Barumini: Su Nuraxi

An hour from the B&B is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Barumini, where you’ll find a collection of prehistoric towers known as “nuraghe”.

They’re usually found on the peaks of cliffs and mountains and their unusual behive shape has become a symbol of Sardinia. There are over 3000 nuraghi on the island and the complex at Barumini dates back to 1500BC and is probably the finest example.

If history isn’t your cup of tea but you're in the area, why not visit the nearby Giara plateau and take a photographic safari in an open jeep instead?

Or visit the Sardinia in Miniature Park found near Tuili on the borders of Barumini.
